The client runs one-to-one tech support and training for older people. I built the sales path in GoHighLevel from the first page to a booked first session: one-off sessions and a support membership with recurring billing through Stripe.
One detail shaped the whole build: the person who pays is often not the person who needs help. Adult children buy support for their parents. A typical funnel misses this: it treats the buyer and the user as one person and sends everything to whoever paid.
1. The path is chosen on the first screen. "Help for myself" and "Help for someone else". Each path has its own product page, order form and follow-up emails. That is why there are four products: a one-off session and a membership, each in a personal and a gift version.
2. A gift is its own journey, not a checkbox. It is a different situation, so it gets its own pages, emails and wording. The gift buyer receives instructions to pass on to the person they bought for. A "this is a gift" checkbox in the personal flow would leave every email written for someone who is coming to the session themselves.
3. Separate forms are also analytics. Personal and gift purchases never mix, and the owner sees from day one which path brings buyers.
4. The first email goes out at payment. Booking instructions arrive the moment a payment completes, and the following emails lead the buyer to the first session.
5. Reminders before renewal, not after it. The membership renews automatically and can be cancelled at any time. A reminder goes out 20 days before each rebill. A buyer who knows a charge is coming is less likely to dispute it. With a gift, the charge is especially easy to forget: one person pays and another one uses the service.
Payment links, booking instructions and pre-renewal reminders now go out from the system, not from the owner by hand. The owner's time goes to the sessions themselves.
If your buyer is not your user either
- Who receives the instructions: the person who paid or the person who will use the service?
- Are the order forms separate, so you can see which path sells?
- Are the gift-flow emails written for the gift buyer?
- Does the reminder arrive before the charge, not after it?
